Thrifty Car Rentals Terms and Conditions

Security BondThrifty will require a security deposit of between $385 and $1100 from your clients upon

collection to cover any optional extras and incidental charges. This deposit can be paid by

any internationally recognised credit card which must be in the name of the authorised renter

of the vehicle. NO CASH DEPOSIT WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Amendments Any amendments to a confirmed booking can only be made by the agent direct. We will not

accept any changes from the customer.

Extensions Additional day charges will be applied at the daily local rate at the time the extension starts.

Payment will be required by credit card. Net rates do not apply to extensions.

Additional Hours Refer to table for additional hire calculation. Any additional hours that are payable will be

collected directly from your client in Australia

Refunds  Refunds are not given on Thrifty Wholesale products once the rental has started and outside of cancellation periods. Any unused days of a prepaid voucher are non-refundable.

No Show Fees  Thrifty reserves the right to charge the total cost of the rental if the customer does not collect.

Cancellation Fees – Australia Wide Do not apply.

Cancellation Fees – NT, Broome and Kununurra Darwin, Alice Springs and Ayers Rock: _ Sedans ECMR to IWAR - Cancellations with 7 days or less notice will be liable for a $220 cancellation fee _ 4WDs and Buses - Up to 14 days, no cancellation fee will apply. Less than 14 days a $330 cancellation fee will apply .All other NT locations including Broome & Kununurra _ Sedans ECMR to FWAR - Cancellations with 14 days or less notice will be liable for a $220 cancellation fee. _ 4WDs and Buses - Up to 14 days, no cancellation fee will apply Less than 14 days a $330 cancellation fee will apply

 

Drivers Licence Requirements Thrifty recognises all current full Australian and International licences. The driver’s licence must be in English with a photo and produced at the start of the rental. Otherwise an International Driving Permit will be required or an official translation for those countries where International permits cannot be obtained.

Age Qualifications – Australia Wide Drivers must be 21yrs + for the following vehicles at all Corporate locations: Drivers must be 25yrs + for the following vehicles at all Corporate locations: At all Franchisee locations drivers must be: 21yrs+ for all Passenger vehicles ECMR – SCAR  25yrs+ for all Passenger vehicles above FCAR, Buses and 4WDS

OPTIONAL EXTRAS AND INCIDENTAL CHARGES

GST - Goods and Services Tax A Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 10% will apply to all rentals.

PLS - Premium Location Surcharge PLS is a levy applied to rentals commencing at most airport locations and some city locations throughout Australia. These charges are controlled by the airport authorities and are subject to change at any time. The All-Inclusive rates Thrifty provides to you include this fee however PLS will apply to any optional extras and incidental charges.

VRRF - Vehicle Registration Recovery Fee VRRF contributes towards the cost of registration and compulsory third party insurance. This is a daily surcharge applied to all rentals at a cost of $6.05 inc. GST per day.

ADMRF - Administration Recovery Fee All rental charges (except PLS) are subject to ADMRF. The charge is 3.5% for all States.

Under Age Driver Surcharge Any driver, either renter or additional named driver, aged between 21years and 24years

inclusive will incur an age surcharge of $22.00 inc. GST per day. This charge will only apply once and cover all drivers listed on the contract who are under 25.

Additional Driver Surcharge No surcharges apply to additional drivers.

Child and Booster Seats Are available at most Thrifty locations and must be requested at time of booking. Child and

Booster seats are at a cost of $6.00 inc. GST per day per seat with a maximum charge of $55.00 inc. GST per seat with a maximum charge of $55.00 inc. GST per seat per rental.

GPS Units Are available from selected Thrifty locations and must be requested at time of booking. GPS Units are at a cost of $11.00 inc. GST per day. The cost of the GPS unit is capped at 10 days per 30 day rental. GPS Units must be handed to the counter staff upon check-in of the vehicle. Failure to do so may result in a replacement fee being billed to the customer if the GPS Unit is found to be missing.

Street Directories and Maps Local maps are only available from our Corporate locations (refer to Thrifty locations listing

page 16). State street directories are available on request and free of charge from some Franchisee locations (refer to Thrifty locations listing page 16). A charge of $25 inc. GST will be billed to the renter for any unreturned Directories.

Tollways New South Wales, Victoria and Queensland all have toll roads. Payment cannot be made to Thrifty for toll charges in NSW, Eastlink in VIC and QLD. The renter is responsible for any / all toll and traffic infringements incurred during the course of their rental. If incurred, Thrifty will transfer these infringements into the name of the renter who then becomes responsible nominating and transferring the responsibility to the driver of the vehicle at the time of the infringement or for paying the fine. In addition a $35.00 inc. GST administration fee is payable for each toll infringement transfer or a $50.00 inc. GST administration fee for each speeding or parking infringement transfer. This administration fee will be charged to the renters’ credit card and a notification letter sent.

LOSS OR DAMAGE COVER  All Thrifty vehicles have Standard Cover, which indemnifies the Thrifty Hirer, and Authorised

Driver for damage caused to the Thrifty vehicle and third party property. Standard Cover is included in the daily rate.

A Damage Recovery Fee is payable for ANY loss or damage regardless of cause / fault i.e. whether it results from accident damage, hail damage, theft etc for EACH SEPARATE incident of damage. Additional charges could also apply including Vehicle Recovery, PLS, Fuel and GST. Please refer to the Loss or Damage Cover Matrix for the conditions relating to our Products (some Products may not be available to certain source markets).

 

Explanation of Terms Passenger Vehicle – is any 2WD passenger sedan, coupe, hatchback or wagon. Damage Recovery Fee (Multi Vehicle Accident) – is any incident involving another motor vehicle where all relevant details of the other motor vehicle (3rd party) have been obtained. Single Vehicle Accident – A single vehicle accident (SVA) means an accident in which (a) no other motor vehicle is involved (e.g. rollovers, collisions with animals, trees, pedestrians etc) (b) another motor vehicle is involved but that other vehicle or its driver has not been identified or that the other vehicle was stationary. PP (Premium Protection) - When taken, reduces the Damage Recovery Fee. UP (Ultimate Protection) - Ultimate Protection includes Standard Cover, Accidental Tyre and Windscreen and Tyre Damage. The Damage Recovery Fee and Single Vehicle Accident Recovery Fee are reduced to NIL. This option is only available from participating Metropolitan locations, NT, Broome and Kununurra. It is not available to Underage Drivers (21-24 years) and not available on 4WDs and Buses. Windscreen and Tyre Cover/Damage – windscreen cover only refers to the front windscreen of the rental vehicle, not to side or rear windows. Tyre damage is limited only to tyres, not to rims or wheel trims. Both windscreen and tyre cover is subject to the vehicle being used as per the conditions of the rental agreement.

Vehicle Recovery - Where a vehicle is rendered undriveable due to accident damage and requires towing to the nearest Thrifty branch, the hirer shall be responsible for all associated costs in recovering that vehicle. Should Thrifty offer a replacement vehicle to the Hirer, the Hirer is also responsible for the cost of relocating the replacement vehicle.
